dragons on the water again
keeping all the pain under the surface
for if it dares to surface
he’ll claim it for his own

dragons on the loose again
looking for the next chink in my armor
as if i’d be that silly
i don’t let anyone in

dragons on the rise again
always keeping his snout toward me
beedy little firey eyes
burning into the epicenter of my skin

i want to lash out
to fight the caged beast within
but if i do
will i like what escapes

will i become the next dragon
looking to consume all that i touch
its bad enough i’ve already consumed myself
and am empty now, broken without a crutch

hollow days
and no one cares
they all flutter about
oblivious to others

i’m not looking for sympathy
not even a hand out
i just want to be whole again
and let the pain spill out

where do i go
where do i turn
before i become him
the dragon on the water

i was at the magnolia festival the other day, and there was a paddle boat on the water, with several kids on it, that kept just harrasing the other smaller boaters.
this was what my mind created about that sight
