    UnEasy

Another tour d’ force capitalizing on the reflections of object(s)/thing(s) which would occupy center stage in a straightforward manner – yet here, “qualified” by the introduction of an element (water) which alters it, disabusing the observer of an uncomplicated appreciation for the buildings themselves. Some say buildings – at least “noteworthy” ones, possess qualities akin to those of humans – pride, arrogance, self-absorption, to name a few. The laws of physics preclude them from a rebuttal of how their countenance is perceived, yet I suspect they are inwardly pleased at their beautiful portrayal as seen here. Your move to Pittsburgh was a significant loss to one of NYC’s finest, most creative photographers, who saw beauty everywhere, and memorialized this beauty so that generations to come will have access to not only the so-called ‘iconic” photographs, but to those off the beaten track traversed by countless others, but never with the same unique insight.

  • Farras Abdelnour replied

kevin, don’t know where or how to start. i am thoroughly at a loss of words here. i am intensely touched by your lyrical analysis and description of the photo, all of which offer an alternate angle to view the photo from. i like to think that only in nyc do i get inspired, must be the air in the big apple. pittsburgh is a charm of a place, beautiful in its own right; but i have yet to get a feel of the city as a photography subject. nyc remains special, the one place i would call home. fortunately, i get my “fix” of the city with my somewhat frequent visits there. until i move back to the city, nyc will always be home. thanks again for your generosity, kevin.
