Hotel nudity

The First Night

The prop was a bucket of ice
Designed purely to designate a purpose
Like the nudity was merely incidental
A cliche
We all recognise it

I collected the ice
And returned to the room
Already jaded
I needed to increase the thrill

The Second Night

I walked further
Took the long way to the ice room
And met nobody, once more
Still jaded
I needed greater thrills

The Third Night

I walked to the lift
Went to a different floor
A different ice machine
And finally met someone
Just for a moment, I feared I’d gone too far

The two women were surprised
And amused
“Where’s the ice machine?”
The question was casual
The lack of clothing was irrelevant
“Back down the corridor and turn right.”
I turned to go
I was halfway down the hall, when one of them called after me
“You’re pointing the way already.”

I smiled to myself
Finally, someone had noticed
