AKHA GIRL - GOLDEN TRIANGLE
The Akha People are one of the many tribal groups living in the Golden Triangle – the area where the borders of Burma, Laos and Thailand meet. Their traditional dress is probably the most flambouyant among these groups. This lady was photographed near the town of Kengtung, Burma. I’ve been told that Akha Ladies rarely remove their elaborate headdresses – even sleeping in them.

Good Lord! Really? I slept in hair curlers once as a teenager, and I can STILL feel the pain! :-/
Such a perfectly captured portrait, and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect combination of colours for a costume.
