Despite China’s recent economic progress, life is still very difficult for most of the rural population. Out in the provinces, people still work long hours for low pay. This rice field worker was photographed in the Li River Valley, near Xing Ping in Southern China.

It’s beautiful and the mountain formation is very unusual. It’s a pity that the overworked and underpaid worker probably doesn’t have the time or energy to fully appreciate it.
