WATER SELLER - MARRAKECH

One of a number of predatory water sellers that inhabit the Place de Djemaa el Fna – the main square in Marrakech, Morocco. As in so many Moroccan experiences, dealing with these guys requires a lot of patience and a good sense of humor.

NAPaul – thanks. It’s a real challenge to catch these guys in a candid moment. This is the best that I could do.

You got the exposure right… You managed to get good colours.

  • Gotcha Photography

    Gotcha Photog...

Love the colours and beautiful portrait! I was in Marakesh quite a few years ago and remember these guys very well and the whole circus atmosphere around the main square! Unfortunately, I wasn’t into photography at the time.

  • Michael Sheridan replied

Thanks, Jocelyne. This was my second trip to Marrakech (2004) and I found it to be a lot more fun and a lot less trouble than on a prior trip 6 years earlier. It’s probably one of the few tourist traps in the world that has actually gotten better with time. I think there had been a recent police crackdown on hustlers.

this photo is A story! I ‘ve watched a TV show on BBC about their story in Morocco, they can’t make a lot of money, maybe very poor people, but they are happy and brave, their lifes are colorful as your photo! Well done.
