BLACK RHINO - SOUTH AFRICA
This Black Rhinoceros has acquired the reddish hue of the soil in Ithala National Park. Ithala is a small park located in Northern KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. The park is home to both the White and the Black Rhinoceros species. The White Rhinos are relatively common and easy to observe. The Black Rhinos are much rarer.

Thanks – I think that this is about as close to primeval Africa as I’ve ever been able to get. These Black Rhinos are very hard t find – especially during the day.

Great find Michael!! I have been to Ithala a few times but I have not been this lucky! That reserve is a little jewel. Well done!

I know what you mean – Black Rhinos are very hard to find. I’ve seen a lot of them in Etosha, but usually at night.

Thanks for the feedback. This was lucky. We spent 3 weeks in South Africa last year and saw ONE Black Rhino – this is it.
