The weather has been so bad in Ireland this year with continuous rain that it is a real treat to be able to get to the beach for a day. This image was taken last weekend on the Atlantic Coast of North Donegal. It was a warm and pleasant day to be enjoyed by all the family.

Dear Joyce; I keep hearing about how bad your weather has been; very unfortunate to have to endure such a miserable summer; but look at the bright side (and one always has to look at some bright side if there is such a thing)….. you got to escape for a day to go to the beach and shoot this lovely scene from what seems to be an elevated vantage point….. and judging by the line of green algae on the beach there has been at least some days with sunshine…. it is green algae isn’t it and not some left-overs from roaming pets I hope?……. how is microbiology for first thing on a Saturday morning after only 3 hours of sleep…. another story for another days…… hope your rainy days get filled with sunshine soon… otherwise will have to transport you to Ontario where the weather has been nothing but lovely lately….. I hear of a heat wave coming in the next day or two… and no rain…… not to make you feel bad or anything….. I digress….. hope your weekend be just as warm and dry to be enjoyed by all the family…… from your “having his first cup of coffee for the day” friend in Ontario…. Hany

  • My dear Hany…………………….thank you for taking time out to comment on a rather rare day of sunshine on an Irish beach……………….just as well I captured this image last weekend as my car has died…………….it collapsed on a busy roundabout at rush hour again and I am rather bereft without it…………………..we will probably bury it on Monday……………………….she was really quite young and had just travelled about 40,000 miles in 8 years………………………my God that is less than you do in a month………………….too much going on so I will send a BMail at the start of the week…………………….have a great weekend Hany and I will be thinking about you…………………………….from your not used to being without a car friend in Ireland……………….Joyce

so what are you gonna do joyce ? apart from the balloon …. does this mean u have to buy a nw car, grrrrrr. hope we are not going to be delayed with ur travelling pics. love this pic !!

  • It looks like I am going to have to buy a new car………………I loved my little Nissan Micra……………….she was only 8 years old………………….had travelled just 40.000 miles in that time……..less miles than Hany does in a month………..massive engine problem which would cost too much to fix………………………could be worse………………..but guess what?…………..the weather has been good since my car died and I am stuck in the house……………………..I could write six books this week but I will not bore you with overheating fuse boxes…………………do not ask…………………….I was in dire danger of being incinerated in my bed……………..the ball cock went and I had a minor flood……………..the washing machine wall plug needed replacing……………….apart from that everything is wonderful………………….how fast are kangaroos and do they take passengers!!!!!…………………..you could post me one……………………….haha……………………….thank you for the sympathy…………………..watch this space………………………………Joyce…………………………..x

Great scene Joyce!!…sorry to hear about the car though, the new nissan’s are really beautiful cars, maybe you can treat yourself

  • Thank you my friend…………………Justin has arrived down for the weekend to see what we are going to decide………………new cars depreciate so much and if I could afford a spanking new car, I would go on holiday instead……………..haha………………………….I will keep you posted………………….Dean was maybe going to send me a kangaroo……………………could I drive one………………………I wonder!!…………………………xx

    Awesome image, dear Joyce!
Somehow we had luck with the weather in the middle of August…few rain and warm – around 25 C – The beaches near Portstewart were full – a lot of people in water…like a South – European beach :-)

  • A belated thank you Bela for your lovely comment………………I am glad you had some sunshine on your visit to Ireland……………….the beaches in Donegal would be less busy………………………….cheers Joyce
