The Fanad Peninsula is the second largest in Donegal, Ireland. Very beautiful area with long golden beaches and wild romantic scenery. I drove around here yesterday just following the little winding roads with no destination in mind. I ended up here at the very tip of the peninsula guided by the lighthouse which could be seen from further round the coast. I drove between hedges of vibrant red fuschia and the occasional dark peak would make an appearance. Fanad Head Lighthouse was built along the Fanad Peninsula as a result of the Saldana being wrecked on the treacherous rocks below the Head with all lives lost. The only survivor was a parrot, which was identified by a silver collar with the name of the ship on it.
