My friend Jonny and I went to one of our favourite places yesterday. The lovely Glebe House and its gardens which sweep down to Lake Gartan in Donegal, Ireland. It was a typical Irish summer day with the misty rain falling gently and the sun shining also. There was a rainbow over the lake. We sat on this wonderful little rustic seat and ate organic celery and hummus while my hair became increasingly frizzed up like Mike Tyson’ s manager. I was thinking of all the famous bottoms that had graced this little seat in days gone by. I am sure Yehudi Menuhin the international violinist sat here and serenaded Derek Hill the English landscape artist who lived in the beautiful Regency House until his death in 2000.
Sitting there beside the lake and the wonderful lawns sweeping up past exotic plants and trees towards the house was a memorable moment which cost nothing.
