The lovely city of Nice on the French Riviera has much to offer the tourist. One of the highlights of a visit is to go and sit in the Place Massena and watch the world go by.
Very beautiful water features make for a very calm oasis in the middle of a busy city.
Being France of course there are some very good restaurants and cafes. Street artists seem to appear from every corner so you can choose jazz , juggling acts from the African Continent, Michael Jackson impersonators and a variety of entertainment.
The square is particularly lovely as the light begins to fade and these sculptural lamps, consisting of male forms extended high above pedestrians’ heads on steel posts come on. At night, the translucent bodies change colour as they are illuminated by different coloured lights.
These sculptured forms were a gift from the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
