I came across this burned out house on Inch Island in Donegal, Ireland. The house was built against the rocks so I should imagine there was not too much light. Without electricity on a windswept part of the island which was cut off at low tide, it must have been a very scary place to live. A local family lived here until fire engulfed the place and the fire brigade was unable to get near because of the tides. This happened within the last three years. I should image that nature will take over and the place will be covered in greenery. I will go back when the weather improves.

What a sad tale (in your description). I hope everyone got out ok. It’s amazing how even such a tragedy can have beauty – just look at the patterns on the window. Good find and superb shot (have you thought about The Windows Group?)

  • This house was in a most beautiful location……………….the family were fishermen, who over the years had drowning tragedies………………it is a sad end to the story of this family……………………….thanks a million…………………Joyce

Great find, Joyce – it must have been absolutely terrifing

  • Well it made the news…………….. the people on the mainland could see the blaze but were helpless………………there is enough rain at the moment to douse any fire…………………………..don’t worry about your spelling………………I invariably need to consult the speller…………………………….thanks Stephanie……………………………xx
