Beautiful lonicera ‘honeysuckle’ growing in profusion in the gardens of Carick House, Co Tyrone, N Ireland.
Lonicera periclymenum ’Serotina’ is a highly-scented honeysuckle with dark pink and creamy yellow flowers. This is another honeysuckle which flowers very long and late in the year. Its deep crimson buds give a jewel-like richness to late spring hedges, fading to a dusky coral-pink just before they bloom.
Honeysuckle’s intoxicating, sweet scent is particularly strong at night – pollinating moths may detect it from a quarter of a mile away.
