I saw humpbacks on a whale watch out of Rainbow Harbor, Long Beach, California. Mom and calf (and a lot of dolphins) were frolicking off San Pedro. (I should post a photo or two, I suppose.) This was on the Christopher (Harbor Breeze Cruises), and as usual on this company’s trips, we had a naturalist from the Aquarium of the Pacific onboard and thus were treated to lots of great information. I’ve been on other trips on the Christopher and seen blue whales, gray whales, minke whales and more. I live in Long Beach, so these whale watches are ver convenient for me.

Wonderful capture! I can identify with the excitement, as I saw a humpback and her calf on my first whale watch and was just so thrilled!
