Artist's Description

It was possible to exit Flinders Street station in 1957 by several routes. This was one of them which lead out onto St Kilda Road footpath by going under signage for “Canns” a very important general store of the time, long since gone. The problem for the photographer in the early morning was that you were looking due East into the lately risen sun. This was taken on Kodachrome 8 ASA film on an Exacta camera
