Stratoclipper Glory of the Skies at Canton Island 1957
In 1967 I traveled to America on this plane. Our fist night out from Sydney brought us at about 6,.00 am to Canton Island a little dot in the Pacific We had a short break here while the plane was refuelled, and then took off for Honolulu. No security guards etc at that time as people were still trusted. The flights were long but comfortable, and it was a privilege to have experienced them.

No security guards – the hijackings of the 1970’s and subsequent events have changed all that! It’s a great shot. I remember when you could walk down Downing Street and stand right outisde number 10 (talking about security)!
