Capturing glimpses of the world through a photographic lens is an exciting venture for me.

In the past, as a pencil portrait artist (www.redbubble.com/people/charlesferrell), I had to rely upon images captured by others to use as templates for my drawings. This is acceptable for works of those special personalities who have disappeared from this planet.

Surprisingly, through photography a different aspect of my being is expressed. I look through the lens and seek to capture “special moments” and seal them in a timeless form, a slice of time, a moment stilled for deeper observation.

Viewing photographs are opportunites for meditation, reflection and introspection. We past through this world in a whirlwind, rushing to get somewhere, to something, to someone….

Far too often, during this process of rushing through this precious existence, we miss “the now”.

This wonderful ability to deeply observe is vitally important for understanding and “seeing”, in a magical way, how everything in God’s creation share common elements, a shared reality, a oneness.

As you can see, I love music and appreciate those artists who are granted the gift to create African Classical Music, that improvisational cultural impluse, that voice of freedom, known throughout the world as “jazz”.
