A few weeks ago the worldwide nonviolent campaign started. It was initiated by the placing the ashes of Gandhi into the river in India.
My local church, with respect to this enlisted the great, great grandson of the Mahatma, the Dr. Arun Gandhi to a speaking engagement.
I in order to attend I had to engage in subterfuge so involved that it, with all modesty, overshadowed even the most classic “Steinfeld” episode, juggling work, school, and my personal commitments.
Finally the night arrived, I even put on a tie, and drove to the church only to find the place deserted, lights out, and the wind howling in the sub zero temperatures of the parking lot.
Stunned, I immediately found out, that he had said things that infuriated so many people that he was forced to resign as the Chairman of the Gandhi Non-Violent organization, and so he was canceled.
Irony?
