A photo taken on Catalina Island, which is located approximately 22 miles south-southwest of Los Angeles off the Southern California coast.

Catalina is part of the eight Channel Islands archipelago. The eight islands that make up the archipelago are divided into two groups — the Northern Channel Islands and the Southern Channel Islands. Catalina Island is one of the four Southern Channel Islands. Santa Catalina Island is the only one of the eight islands with a significant permanent civilian settlement—the city of Avalon and the unincorporated town of Two Harbors.

Taken with a Nikon D90 and 18-105mm lens @ f/8, 1/800

  • Thank you so much, Vicki. I got into HDR shortly after this picture was taken but I am planning on taking another trip there this summer and would like to see how this shot looks in HDR. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.

Great shot! That’s by boat the Fortuna fifth row out from the beach far left.

  • Is that right? Well, call me jealous. Do you get to spend a lot of time out there?
