This is a shot of the Hoover Dam, a world famous landmark that sits at the Arizona-Nevada border. The bridge in the background is known as The Mike O’Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and The Hoover Dam Bypass. It was the first concrete-steel composite arch bridge built in the United States, and includes the longest concrete arch in the Western Hemisphere. It finished construction and opened on October 19, 2010.

This is a HDR image shot with a Nikon D90 and 18-105mm lens, then processed with Photomatix and Photoshop.

I’ve seen a number of photo series of the bridge being built, and it seemed like an almost impossible feat! I’m glad it’s finished now, and given you such a beautiful picture!
