Just a little more!

Posted almost 2 years ago

At seven thirty in the morning I stood on the dock gazing up at a pristine white ship. A man hung from a harness polishing a brass bell on the side of the bridge wing. The ship was a pure white, hotty amongst the world of cruise ships. She was graceful and exuded class. I instantly liked her. Already I was impressed by her curvature, her cleanliness and her elegant presence.
Upon arrival I spot…

Okay... Here is a snippet of the book!

Amy stood next to me. ‘I can’t wait to get onboard and see my boyfriend we are going to break the bed when we see each other.’
‘Is he really heavy?’ Or was it strange ship ritual for arrival?
She smiled, ‘no we haven’t seen each other for two months. We have some catching up to do.’
Lovely! Why do people feel the need to inform strangers of their sexual escapades?
Once inside the ship the crew were l…

Okay I admit that I haven’t been on for a while but I have been editing my new book and blogging it as I edit… The book is a real look behind the scenes of what happens on a cruise ship… Scandalous does not describe the half of it… If you are interested… I think a number of you

The word hectic never fully describes my life...

Posted over 2 years ago

The word hectic never fully describes my life… I think that if I was obseving my plate balancing, twiriling life I would be somewhat amused. I feel like I am balancing on a large balls whilst rolling down a hill spinning plates…. It seems that oscillation is the key here. When something goes wrong it goes really wrong, then something good comes of it. Take for example the exhaust fell…

A random person recommended GOYLEGATE on the new york times list of top books.

Posted almost 3 years ago

Hello there, well how surprised was I when I received an e-mail saying that a random person had recommended Goylegate on the New York times top ten books… Yep the expression blown away was about apt for a person who simply self-published a children’s book.

Apologies for not being around for a while but life, as always, is busy. So as always I am living the extreme… So it will be…

The Power Of Word Of Mouth!

Posted almost 3 years ago

Well it is amazing how word of mouth is more powerful than any marketing campaign. It is true. I opted to self publish a book because I believed that the full publishing process with a publishing house took too long. Also the honest truth is I really could not be bothered to be rejected by editors who did not have time to read the work. I look at it as when a person eats chocolate all day every d…

Antarctic, finalist and politics...

Posted over 3 years ago

Well hello everyone. You may think that I have disappeared off the face of the planet, well not exactly. I am currently floating around the earth on a luxury cruise ship. I know it sounds glamorous, but when you are working on board it is far from that. Try sleeping in a bunk bed during a storm and being confined to cabins when you are ill. It is more of a prison for nice people… Still in a…

Another award - hoorah.

Posted over 3 years ago

Hello there everyone. I haven’t been about for a while, but the good news is I came second in the Independent / Insight guides travel photography competition. It turns out this is quite prestigious and I get to have dinner with the editors of both Insight and the Independent. On top of this there is a top fellow from the Royal photographic Society. Am I lucky or what? Very happy about it al…
