halo in chinese garden by

I was on my way to go home when I saw the halo around the sun so before I left, I went to the chinese garden cause I know they have nice photogenic trees. I took that picture.

Nice! I believe the opposite of a rainbow is a called a ‘glory’.

Outstanding Sundog…I have seen a few, but never a complete Halo…

  • it’s a very common phenomenon here. maybe because I live in North. Halos are made by reflection of the sun in ice crystals. thanks a lot ;)

I love parhelions Manon, and this is a stunning capture. What makes it really special is the wispy clouds which make it look as though it is smouldering. This is gorgeous :-)

  • you are right. the clouds were thin and textured. halo is great with that. thank you so much :)

Oh WOW Manon, this is wonderful and some that we so rarely see. I’ve seen it a few times with the moon too, but have never been lucky enough to have my camera with me. How spectacular and a big favorite for me….. :)

  • here it’s common because we are living in a cold country. the atmosphere up there is so very cold. it give us the chance to see that phenomenon sometimes. thank you so much Kathy ;)
