Drinking Water

A girl from Taquile, Island in Titikaka lake is filling her cup with drinking water. The houses are built from mud and stones, and there are no running water or plumbing in the houses. Beds are built in from mud above the floor and a mat is placed on top. I spent two days in this house and the family hospitality was incredible. The girl belong to the Aymara ethnic group
Originaly a 35mm slide.

I like your work (otherwise I would not leave comment, due time constraints).
Below my reasons for it and my honest opinion.
Please don’t feel de-motivated if some honest feedback is given.
I always mean it in a positive way. And in all, it’s just my perception anyway.

Impact (does it grab attention?): strong
Composition (use of space, lines): good filling of frame
    Subject matter: interesting
Focal point: her eye, spot on
    Style (story): powerful
Lighting: good use of natural light
    Color balance: real good
    General: love it

This entire series is wonderful – one gets a true sense of a real moment in the lives of the people you’ve captured. As for this one, she looks a little sly and worried about being observed (like a teenager sneaking into the parent’s margarita party!)

The very best part of this is that she saw you taking her photo. She looked out of the corner of her eye. I think it makes it more real than when you catch someone with out them knowing. Just a wonderful shot. Beautiful color and emotion.

  • Eyal Nahmias replied

Thank you Elizabeth. Thou my response is late, I truly appreciate your accolades and wonderful feedback. :-) I agree, this half sided look that knows about me taking her picture and still carrying on with her activity is what makes this image so real. I wish you and yours a wonderful and happy new year.
