Enough!

Enough! by Eyal Nahmias

Enough!

A section from Arlington West. An ongoing display of the casualties in Iraq to protest against the war in Iraq, and increase the public awareness regarding the military and political fallout of staying there. Each Sunday morning thousands of crosses, as the number of the fallen, for that day, are placed in the sand and volunteers are providing the public with up to the moment information on casualties plus individual stories on the fallen. This image was taken at memorial day 2007 as a tribute and memorial and as a cry for peace… Digitally manipulated image. Eyal Nahmias

I’m confused. Why are they planting crosses for the Muslim dead? I also get confused when those from the ‘ex-coalition of the willing’ talk about Islam being a violent religion, considering the mega-mass-murder of Muslims in GWB’s Holy Crusade for Oil.

  • Eyal Nahmias

    Eyal Nahmias, 9 months ago

Shayne, There is a huge plaque detailing the number of the dead muslim and Jewish dead also. the cross is a representation only. As a jew there was a star of david attached to the Jewish fallen and a crescent for the muslim.

As for Islam as violent releigon, It’s only the extremist!

Oh I see. Well, it’s a great gesture. The whole Iraq/Afghanistan thing totes horrifies me. We don’t do body counts of the other side.

  • Eyal Nahmias

    Eyal Nahmias, 9 months ago

Shayne, Any way you look at it, from the Iraqi point or the U.S. it is an horrible war with horrific implications. There is body count of the other side, but this administration huses it and do not disclose any info. I’m on your side here. :-)

Extremely powerful work, Eyal! The message is clear, enough is enough, and, of course… it won’t help. But I feel that it’s our role at least to try to stop bloodshed anywhere on this planet.

yeah well, Eyal Nahmias, the whole thing is too horrendous for me to even comprehend. That certain industrialists stole the US presidency in a dodgy election, hatched a fraud about WMD’s etc. to destroy Iraq and steal their oil, made sure they couldn’t defend themselves before raining hideous weapons on them 24/7 for 3 weeks, then sent in the marines to burn anything that moved…..leaves me speechless. People sometimes call me anti-American, but i don’t believe for one second that these are American values. It was just done in America’s name. And I believe that this year, that reign of evil in the White house will finally come to an end. All things change, bless all the victims.

Shayne, I’m completely on your site. Yes I do believe that ther was a lot of fooling the American people into war which is not justified, by false propaganda and lies. I do hope that this administration will be changed, and there will be a major change in Iraq & Afganistan.

Well, my feelings about the Bush Administration are no secret to anyone. :-) I am glad that he will soon be out of office and our Country will be out of his wretched grip.

I am simply horrified by what has been done to the Iraqi people in the name of Freedom and those Americans who have died for the false claim of protecting us from terrorists with WMDs. I think your work speaks for me and for many people who have had ENOUGH murder and mutilation of Iraqis and Americans.

powerful and sad….we are a crazy mixed up planet full of factions with agendas, whether they are government ones, religious ones, or historically driven ones… the results are usually the same, oppression, hate, torture, death, propaganda, lies, half truths… on our planet, this seems to be an incurable disease…

This image makes a very strong statement against the war (any war).
I love the composition starting with one cross in the front and then a few more and then you see more and more countless crosses.
Saying that every cross represents an individual human being with hops and dreams.
The colours blue sand and red crosses add more drama.
    Excellent work.

  • Eyal Nahmias

Eyal Nahmias in reply to Moshe Cohen’s comment, 4 months ago

Thank you Moshe. I agree with you. It is a statement against any war, and today it is Memorial Day in the U.S and I do believe that the message still needs to be driven deeper and impounded harder on this administration…
