I am a retired graphic artist who, after a successful career, has returned to my first love : painting. I studied fine art at The Nova Scotia of Fine Art (now Dalhousie University) and commercial art in Montreal at The Canadian School of Commercial Art.I endeavor to capture light by portraying the surfaces on which it falls, precise light as it describes a still life in exquisite detail or loose swathes of colour that paints single trees or wide landscapes. The ambitiousness of this effort results in my styles varying from almost super-realism to impressionism.I exhibit often in libraries, a variety of private venues and have commissioned work hanging in public places. I am not committed to any single gallery although I do appear in collective exhibitions. My work has been bought by people around the world and I regard a patron’s desire to share their space with my work the highest of compliments. I seek to create beautiful work for the sake of beauty. The tableaus are rendered in acrylics, mostly on canvas and range in size from 8×10 to 24×36 inches.
