Lytham Jetty 06 - Lytham St Annes, Fylde, Lancs by

I’m told that the post at the end of the jetty at Lytham St Annes is a radar reflector but I am awfully glad it’s there for other, more aesthetic reasons.

The tide was running strongly from left to right and caused a swell as it came over the left hand side of the jetty. At the base of the post you can also see the slight trail of disturbed water off to its right.

Capturing an outstanding monochrome image is my greatest photographic pleasure – since such an image is just as gripping as any colour image can be.

Thanks for dropping by and looking at my pictures – especially if you’ve been moved to take the time to comment on them. All comments are read and appreciated, especially if they’re constructive or heartfelt.

Another gem and yes the cone is indeed a radar reflector and they also act as ‘groyne markers’ for anybody sailing close to shore. The metal cones bounce back radar beams that would normally get lost in the clutter especially if a sandy shore.

  • aaaah Thank You Marc. It’s a little funny to make a piece of technology part of a seascape I guess
