An early morning shot across Loch Dunvegan from Colbost on the beautiful Isle of Skye. Taken from above the road which leads eventually Neist Point, not too far from the famous Three Chimneys Restaurant.
Uiginish lightouse is in the middle distance behind the islands of Eilean Dubh, Eilean Mor, Garay with Gairbh Eilean beyond it. The high ground of Cnoc Mor, Beinn a’ Chapuill, Ben Horneval and Ben Vic Askill lies in layers behind. Dunvegan Castle is just hidden from this viewpoint.
I had envisaged a receding picture in my head the night before , gradually fading to lighter tones so had planned to use a long lens to compress the depth of the scene.
When I arrived, it needed far less focal length than I had realised – to get the composition I wanted – but the end result was [fortunately] the same.
