Clouds Approaching - Hornby, Lancashire by

I had been photographing Hornby Castle from a location – across the River Wenning in the Lune Valley – that I had visited many times before, taking several pictures as the sun dipped low on the horizon.

Satisfied with what I had seen, I started to put my gear away but before I did I glanced around and saw this magnificent cloud and the wonderful shadows stretching across the grass from the hedge.

Composing the image was a no-brainer and I took several images as the sun dipped below the horizon. The telephoto lens foreshortened the distance from the hill to the cloud behind – making it seem as if it was crowding in.

    FAVE!!! :-)))
… often, some of the best images ‘begging to be taken’ present themselves when least expected! :-))

  • Thank you Ell, yes I look behind myself an awful lot more than I used to!
