Malham Tree 01 - Yorkshire Dales, UK by

The most photographed tree in the Yorkshire Dales ? Perhaps, but always worth the trip to the limestone pavement above Malham no matter what. I arrived for dawn and was seriously disappointed by thick cloud but waiting for an hour or so in the wind paid off handsomely as the sun broke through for a few precious minutes.

    wonderfully evocative.
The angle, lighting, the whole composition brings out a surreal feeling of solitude.

don’t know how you did it but the light / tone on the pavement is superb

  • Thank you Christopher. I seem to remember the tops of the pavement were slightly wet so reflected some sunlight. which I accentuated
