Inspired by early Marathon concept art, in this piece I have evoked the shadowy, industrial back alleys in the slums of a futuristic utopian city. The character is mysterious, looming ominously from the fog with sabotage and subterfuge in mind. Created from various pencil thumbnails and sketches, and refined with Photoshop painting and textures from my personal library!

I am a self taught illustrator and graphic designer. I’ve been freelancing for about ten years, and am also into bladesmithing and hot metal work which I am studying on a scholarship. I’m a proud father and love sharing my joy in lots of different areas of life with my three year old daughter. Mountains! Engines! Animals! Ahhhh….

Really like the limited clolour palette and the detail with all the cables and pipes in the background.

  • Nice one! Yeah I really enjoy rendering all the little details and stuff, you can get lost in it for hours sometimes. Thanks man!

Excellent use of a restrictive palette
    Nice lightingting

  • Thanks very much ToastedGhost! I attempted to achieve a decent treatment of the colour and lighting in this piece, it was a fun training exercise!
