We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves; otherwise we harden.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
It is another experiment of mine. I tried to make a collage over the structured by gel, paste and acrylics canvas. Couldn’t resist painting a little over the pieces of paper though to bring in some shadows and texture.
The biggest challenge with this work was to find the right pieces of the body, so they would match together proportionally and in general lighting. I just had an idea, but not a final image in my head. In the end I had to use parts from a few different models. For head I used an old mannequin picture. I had a good dozen of versions before I decided on this layout and pieces. But it was a great fun :)
Mixed media on canvas 50×100cm.
Acrylics, paste and gels, pen, pieces of medical bandage, pieces of printed figure.

Wow, I like both this amazing collage and the section on the left only.
I also really like how you add such fitting quotes to your work. Best Kasia

Like the look of all this…the shadowy forms and the broken limbs recall (for me) the fantasmagorical pictures of Hieronymous Bosch and some Breughel the Elder, but you can also see some of Goya’s darkness.
    Good luck.

  • Interesting observation…..I love work of old masters, but didnt think my modest work anything from them…. By the way, here all humans presented by mannequins…Thank you very much!

I really like this too! I like each in its own way……This for the story it tells and the thoughts it provokes….The other for its sculptural qualities…Although all of your work is thought provoking.

  • Dear Pete, thank you so much for such a lovely comment!!! You made my day! Looks like I am on a right track :)
