Deers in public places are common in Japan. The most famous place for that I think is Nara. However at Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima there are also plenty of them. The only difference is that in Miyajima they are not so polite as in Nara :-)

Well, it was around the middle of the day, and probably this guy was taking rest after lunch he obviously got while chasing tourists for food :-)
