Not to take anything away from the many beautiful images that won the Unleashed 2007 image contest (there isn’t a single one there that isn’t top notch work) but… and you knew there would be a ‘but’ right?
Looking over some winners entries it must be an extremely long stretch to link them to the theme ‘Unleashed’. I don’t want to single out any one work, or make any kind of example. Just take a look for yourself and see if you have any difficulty in linking some to the theme.
Make your own judgment, this is just my opinion after all. I do want to stress – All the winning images are exceptional.

I think it comes down to interpretation. Some of them I noticed are an irony of unleashed. Some represent a vibrant message, while others are direct representation of the word itself.
What’s unleashed but letting go, being free, being reckless, careless, anything aside from being conditional, boxed in and boring.
If you look at it that way, maybe they do represent the word.

I interpreted it as CREATIVITY that was being unleashed, but then again I didn’t read the original call for entries as carefully as I could have :-)

Point taken on it coming down to interpretation kseriphyn. I possibly have a narrower interpretation than what’s expressed in the winning entries.
The interpretation of the word was pretty wide open Matt. I don’t recall any kind of restrictions other than linking to the idea of the word ‘unleashed’ its self.
