Japan’s Himeiji Castle is the largest and most visited castle in the country. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Shoes cannot be worn inside the castle so slippers are provided for those not wishing to go in stocking-feet.

  • Thanks! This photo makes me think of those museums displaying various artifacts belonging to some well-known person or representing daily life at a certain time, though doubtless people weren’t wearing cheap plastic slippers back in the heyday of Himeji Castle.
