Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island: A tram stop.
Hong Kong Tramways Limited has been operating tram service in Hong Kong since 1904. It operates a fleet of 163 tramcars, including two antique tramcars. It is the world’s largest fleet of double-deck tramcars still in operation. In 2000, Hong Kong Tramways introduced new metal-body trams.
How did I miss this? (I still can’t figure out how that strip along the top of ‘my bubble’ works…) Not just a lovely image, but it has great interest as well (especially for public transportation nuts like me): I did know Hong Kong has double decker buses, but I didn’t know they had double decker trams! I’ve never seen such creatures before. :) So, this is just an extra nudge to work out my little ‘Chinese cities’ plan…. maybe next year…
If you’re not in a hurry to get somewhere, it’s nice to ride the tram from one end of the line to the other: good chance to pass through various interesting parts of town. At and around Shau Kei Wan, the eastern terminus, would, I suspect, appeal to you.
