San Francisco: Palace of Fine Arts.
Built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition, it was demolished in 1964 and rebuilt in 1965. Today it is home to the Exploratorium interactive museum and the 1,000-seat Palace of Fine Arts Theater.
