Wings of Will by

A friend and I went on holiday to Thailand last summer and while swimming in the private pool I was watching all the dragonflies and butterflies that were about. Then I noticed this little guy being blown into the pool by a particularly strong gust of wind. I had to move slowly from the jacuzzi and into the main pool to pick the poor thing out. It was pretty eager to get going again though and fell in countless times afterwards, in the end i had to get out and keep it away from the pool and on my hand long enough for it to dry it’s wings properly. But it was determined to be off as soon as possible! Eventually he dried without another accident and promptly flew over a wall. Hopefully he’s alright now…I was surprised by it’s resilience…I’d always been told that they would be unable to fly if you so much as touched their wings! Maybe they were just trying to stop me from accidentally harming the poor creatures while i was young :P

Great capture. You must have a very steady hand to hold the butterfly still and take a photo at the same time. Bravo. Agnes xx
