ok, I do have some more very moving images from back then, some from my father also now deceased, who went there with the British Army. My dad loved Japan (though not the devastation he saw immediately after the war) and ended up marrying a Japanese lady he met years later at the ANU.They had a happy 30 years together until they both passed away in 2004. My dad was a amateur phtographer who developed his own black and white pictures, so I will share some of their images. Thanks for the interest.

another memorable photo you share with us. I have always liked history, though the true photos/stories arent always pleasing. For me it is something i’ve only heard about and so these photos of yours are a lesson to view for me. thankyou for sharing. powerful image!
