really great painting Estelle. when i see this scean, i always worry if sheep is happy or not.
Estelle O'Brien replied
Thanks Hidemi. As long as the shearer doesn’t cut them, they don’t seem to mind. This man is a friend of mine, an Aboriginal man called Matt, who is a very good shearer. I painted this from a photo I took of him in a small shearing shed.

Oh this is lovely Estelle. Your painting style is improving so fast and becoming more and more confident, I’m so jealous! I love the fleece, the floorboards and the shearer’s muscles!!!
Estelle O'Brien replied
Thanks so much for the lovely comment Colombe.
Corinne Pouzet
I don’t have much more to say after Colo said above, because I quite agree with her on everything…..You are improving in your style, this is obvious Estelle and I like it very much. I also like the muscles on the shearer’s arms, the attitude and the whole composition too. Very well done mon amie !

Superb figure and sheep painting, Estelle. You are really evolving your different styles (just like me!). The muscle groups in the shearers arms, and the natural passive pose of the sheared lamb, are superbly observed and composed.
This reminds of fellow Australian Lynda Robson’s painting, inside a shearing shed.
I’ve just done my first acrylic – which I find harder than watercolour. But Imust learn!
Estelle O'Brien replied
Thanks so much Colin, I do so appreciate your kind comments and input. Acrylic harder than watercolour???? Thats very subjective!!! I wish I had your talent with watercolour, which I love so much. I guess its all practice- good luck with the acrylics. have a hug from me across the sea! xx
