This is my version of Deb Gillett’s wonderful piece “Fire Feather” which she has done with muslin, doilies, texture paste and inks. It appears in an excellent feature of Deb’s work in this months (August) Australian Artist Magazine. It can also be seen on Deb’s redbubble site -Deb Gillett.
I was mesmerised by Deb’s wild and exciting use of bold colour and beautifully balanced design. We are looking at expressing movement in my pastel class at the moment, so I copied Deb’s gorgeous work for my class exercise. I love bright colour so I really enjoyed working this one. Thank you Deb for providing such a great basis for my exploration.

Estelle, you have done a great job. I too love bright colours, must be something to do with the weather here. I will try for that magazine. I think Deb had something in one last year and I missed out. I will go on the hunt for this months.
