My art work reflects my continual fascination with, and struggle to represent, the effect of light on colour. I can spend hours gazing at gum trees, or the ocean, or the sky…wondering how to capture that elusive glint or shimmer of sunlight that makes the colours of God’s creation dance and sing. My abstract work is about discovering balance and harmony while exploring the right side of my brain. It helps me loosen up. I hope to develop more skill in portraiture as I am always intrigued by the story lines on people’s faces.
I live on the mid north coast of NSW in Australia, and am a member of the Nambucca Valley Art Group. My work can be seen in the Stringer Gallery in Nambucca Heads.
After years in the city, I now live a very simple life…110 acres of forest, a house we are building ourselves…solar power…wood stove…organic vegies…horses…loads of birds and wildlife and rainforest only half an hour from pristine beaches.
It is Gumbaynggirr country which is home to some fine indigenous artists.
I am mostly self taught and I thank God for the passion He has put in my heart to learn. I sometimes attend classes with David Southgate and have done the occasional workshop. I work in various mediums, oil, pastel, watercolour, acrylic and inks and love experimenting. Life is a great adventure of learning for me. I love Australia and her people in all their many guises…and learn something from everyone I meet. I hope you enjoy my work…if you wish to purchase originals please email me at denez@ck20.com.
Shalom…
