Snow Princess by

Just north of Penrith, Stanier ‘Princess Royal’ 4-6-2 46207 ‘Princess Arthur of Connaught’ heads a Glasgow express. At busy times, extra coaches were added to trains (in the days before rolling stock shortages!) -14 or 15 were quite within the capabilities of these powerful engines.

An acrylic painting, available as a canvas print from espiritoart.com

This is awesome! The cold of snow vanquished with artistic steam plumbs! Just love this! Definate fav!

Excellent! The warm red of the engine against the cool colors, and the way the clouds mirror the tracks’ diagonals work beautifully.

  • Thank you very much. I suppose a modern day equivalent of the clouds would be aircraft vapour trails!
