The sketch for this piece sat around for a year or so before I finally got around to painting it. I was dubious about tackling the project since 18 × 24ish is definitely the largest thing I’ve ever worked on before.

In the end, it turned out better than I thought it would.

Inspired mostly by my love for narwhals—I think they’re very beautiful creatures—and their connection to unicorn lore. But not so much by Peter Beagle’s book though it is one of my favorites. :)
