Fascinated by the sound of Japanese cicadas singing, I have chosen to title my current body of work “A Cicada Singing at Night Time”.
In this project photography marries hand painting techniques. Lacquers are applied and treated as changing skins, giving a sense of depth. Surfaces are scratched, worked and colour treated.
Layers are sketched and manipulated, allowing me to expressmyself in the same way as when I use the “acqua forte” print making technique.
