New eyes

I see the world in a way that makes it unique and special,
so much of it is new and undiscovered to me.
I wish to turn over every leaf, rock and pebble in my sight,
because I believe there is always something new to be found
if you look close enough, hiding underneath the simplest things.
In my eyes a grain of sand is a treasure,
Maybe this is why as I sit on the beach I let my soft, small,
new hands sink into it.
As I feel the sand surround and engulf them, I enclose my
hand upon millions of grains and slowly as I pull
my hands out I see the sand fall back into the space my hands
once occupied moments ago.
I unclench my small fists and let the bright, warm rays of sun
light fall upon the treasure I have collected.
( I do not yet understand why not many other people share
my curiosity for things so simple as this.)
I let the sand slip from my fingers into the pocket of my
navy blue corduroy overalls, I turn to face the beach and I feel
a cool sensation wash over my feet as I squeal in delight at the
water, I hear my mother’s voice calling back to the place from
where she sits watching me.
But I have no intention of following the voice’s request,
my only desire at this moment is to stay standing in this very spot.
But as we all know desires are things that so frequently change.

This is what i call contemplation of the present moment … the only way to live the reality around us, because nothing else is as real as the perception… as quantum physics tell us if we have a look at a single sand grain with an adequate microscope we will discover that the distance between each atom would take light years for a human to be crossed…. an entire universe in a single sand grain, not to speak about an entire beach…. : )
