Phoenix by Erik Schlogl

Perhaps it’s just me, but this Australian Darter (Anhinga novaehollandiae) with its golden neck plumage, drying its wings in the evening sun, reminds me of a mythical phoenix… Centennial Park, Sydney, Australia.

Note: Parts of the scientific literature consider this species to be a subspecies of Anhinga melanogaster.
