Artist's Description

The Tomkinson River is a tributary of the Liverpool River, which drains a catchment area of over 8000 square kilometers in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia. The Tomkinson River is tidal almost to its source, but nevertheless has an inflow of fresh water all year from springs in the Arnhem Land Escarpment. The wetlands along the river are prime habitat for a myriad of bird species, as well as the obligatory saltwater crocodiles, and anglers prize the river for barramundi fishing.
