Ghost Pipefish (Solenostomus cyanopterus), “Susan’s Reef,” Kimbe Bay, New Britain, Papua New Guinea. This image was taken at a depth of 26m, where this fish made its home in a stand of whip coral. Just a few meters further on, I took a picture of the closely related Harlequin Ghost Pipefish in another stand of whip coral.

Nikon D300, 105mm Micro Nikkor, ISO 200 in RAW, f/36 at 1/60 sec, Seacam housing, Seacam flash.
