Shut Down a Coal Plant - Reverse Rising Pollution by

We need to reverse our rising pollution around the world, but particularly in Australia.

We could start now. Our government could start now. If we don’t think that’s going to happen – and who’s kidding themselves – we need to take collective action and force our government to do it. By next year, we could be emitting less than we are now. By the end of the next term of the federal government, our emissions should be sharply dropping.

We call all do things at home to help reduce the carbon pollution that is making global warming worse, but we know there’s nothing we can do individually that is commensurate with the scale of the problem. That’s why we need to act together on the largest root problems of our pollution dependent economy. Taking direct action to shut down coal power plants, even temporarily, is probably the highest impact action that we can take, both physically and politically.

This all might sound quite negative but reliable, clean, base-load renewable energy is available and could be replacing dirty coal starting tomorrow – but we need to break the corrupting influence of the coal & fossil fuel industries for clean energy to get it’s foot in the door.
