Melanerpes carolinus by

For some reason, I have been into taking bird photos lately, as you probably noticed. This is a Melanerpes carolinus, or red-bellied woodpecker, common in my area. Comments and critique always welcome!

    another stunning capture!
How close is the ledge to you? Do you have to use anything to hide yourself? I have hung some seeds out, but no success yet for me!

The railing is about 6 feet from my slightly mirrored living room windows, so depending on the light (and what I’m wearing color-wise), it can do a pretty good job of concealing me. Glad you like it! Thanks!

you nailed this one! beautiful bird as well. We have a favorite flicker than owns our territory, but not as good looking as this one.

  • Oh really? I don’t think I know what a flicker is…?
